UAV Systems and Privacy

The safe and ethical use of UAVs can benefit many fields. At the same time, the ongoing development of drones will almost surely cause an increase in privacy issues. In terms of data gathering and personal identity, what constitutes an invasion of privacy? Which kind of bounds would be established for privacy, given the saturation of sectors with various interweaving and overlapping technologies, such as facial recognition and lidar? The public's approval of commercial drone usage is influenced by a nuisance factor, in addition to privacy concerns.

Actually, these concerns are all about lack of experience and related to the previous issue which is none: once the public sees that drones are operating safely in lands without settlements, general confidence would increase. We need to allow the industry to move forward without increasing public risk, which in turn will reduce reluctance and bring further progress and innovation.

Industrial sites or rural areas are excellent testing grounds to showcase cutting-edge drone technology. Clear security procedures can be easily implemented in these areas, so that drone operations can be carried out without major risks.

Once the level of reliability is improved, it will be easier to conduct drone operations in densely populated areas.
